Kit on the bike
This is what the published routes assume, taken from the ride notes. It is not a gear review and not a sponsorship page. Shop links go to Louis and FC-Moto. When a referral code is configured, ADVPOV may earn a commission. The recommendation does not change either way.
A bike that matches the tag
The route tag is the kit decision. Big ADV means graded gravel and a way back to pavement. In the Sarajevo pack that is Ozren via Čavljak, the Misoča canyon, and the TET toward Lukomir. Motka Peak's note is that deep mud can trap a heavier adventure bike, and some of its lines are closer to enduro than to a typical ADV trail.
Something that reads a GPX
The download is a GPX track. A handlebar GPS or a phone app that imports GPX is enough. OsmAnd reads the file and works offline. Load the track before you leave Sarajevo. The Lukomir approach and the high crossings warn that cell coverage runs out.
A tube and the tools to change it
Misoča is a narrow railway above a canyon, with exposed drop-offs. Motka Peak is deep ruts and mud. The Lukomir approach is rocky. A tube and levers you have practiced with matter more than another layer of riding gear. The route notes do not name a brand.
Fuel for the gap you were told about
The Lukomir approach has limited services. The Kreševo–Fojnica crossing tells you to carry extra fuel. Start full in Sarajevo, and treat a fuel warning on the route as the plan. A small can only matters on the rides that name a gap.
Cash in the village
The Lukomir ride report says the café and the wool sellers take cash. Do not count on a card machine in a seasonal highland village.
