A two-day loop from Sarajevo: the Trans Euro Trail west across the Dinaric Alps to Skradin on the Krka, then the Dalmatian coast to Split and back over the Blidinje plateau.
Two long days and one loop from Sarajevo. Day one is the Trans Euro Trail west across the Dinaric Alps into Croatia, finishing in Skradin on the Krka. Day two is the Dalmatian coast to Split, then inland over the Blidinje plateau and home through Jablanica and Konjic.
About 419 km west from Sarajevo on Trans Euro Trail Bosnia and Herzegovina, tagged hard. The line runs past Kiseljak and Travnik to Bugojno, then over Kupres, Glamoč, and Bosansko Grahovo on forest trails, gravel roads, and mountain tracks. Most of the day is unpaved. Fuel and services are far apart, and cell coverage is patchy. TET sections can pass marked mine-risk areas, so stay on the established track. You cross into Croatia at Strmica, about 350 km in, pass Knin, and finish in Skradin on the Krka river. The overnight was near Šibenik. Start early. This is a full day with no daylight to spare.
About 308 km back to Sarajevo, mostly paved. From Skradin the line follows the Dalmatian coast past Trogir to Split, about 80 km in, then turns inland over Klis. You cross back into Bosnia and Herzegovina and reach Tomislavgrad, then climb onto the Blidinje plateau around 200 km in. Blidinje is high, open ground: it can be cold or foggy outside summer. From there the road drops to Jablanica and runs home through Konjic and Tarčin. The gravel and dirt are on the inland Bosnian sections. Coastal and mountain roads get slippery in the wet.
